January Glam Bag Time!

It seems like I was just opening my December Glam Bag last week. Apparently it’s been a whole month because my January Glam Bag arrived on Monday. This month is my 6 month anniversary for my Ipsy subscription. You’d think I’d stop being surprised at how happy I am with it every month, but I’m not. For the 6th time in a row, I’m blown away that this subscription is only $10 a month.

The bag itself is not as nice as December’s and it wrinkled a bit during shipping. However, it’s a compact size with a wide bottom, so I can fit a lot of stuff in here without taking up a lot of space.  The lining isn’t as fancy either, but it is cute. It actually feels a bit patriotic to me, which is not a bad thing – it’s just that when I see it all I can think about it is how perfect it would be for July.

You’re a grand ol’ flag, you’re a high-flyin’ flag!

This month, they took a little break from the makeup they’ve been sending out with past bags and delved into skin, hair, and body care. Here’s what’s inside:

•  SOHO Pro Eyeliner brush ($8)
•  .17 oz. bottle of Josie Maran Argan Oil ($10)
•  .5 oz. sized bottle of Nailtini Nail Polish in Bloody Mary ($13)
•  2.5 oz tube of Pacifica Body Butter in Tuscan Blood Orange  ($7)
•  1.5 oz. can of “Spray  & Play by Big Sexy Hair ($6)

Total Value: $44

The SOHO Pro eyeliner brush is a little large for anything I would personally do with eyeliner, but I think it will work great as an accent brush for eyeshadow. My sister received a crease brush in her bag and it’s nice and fluffy, perfect for blending eyeshadow.

The Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil is not a new product for me – but I am a BIG fan of Argan Oil and Josie Maran is one of my favorites (second only to Shea Terra Organics).  I often use it as an overnight moisturizer. Argan oil is packed with vitamin E & fatty acids, gentle enough for people with sensitive skin, and naturally contains a lot of healing and antiaging properties. It’s supposed to be great for hair as well, although my hair turns to grease at the mere mention of any hair oil, so I just use it on my face and cuticles.

The Nailtini Nail Polish in Bloody Mary is nice. It has great, non-streaky coverage, even with just a single coat. This particular shade of red is a flat, straightforward red, and though it’s nice, it’s not really my jam. Some folks received a light pink called Frappe in their Glam Bags, and if anyone who received Frappe would like to swap, I’m totally game! Just email me or comment below if you’re interested in an exchange.

This is just one coat of Nailtini “Bloody Mary” Nail Polish.

The Pacifica Body Butter is wonderful.  The fragrance is  sweet and citrusy, and very similar to a fragrance Bath and Body Works carries online called Mango Mandarin.  The lotion itself contains shea butter, avocado oil, and safflower oil and is very moisturizing. Although it doesn’t quite match my expectations for a body butter, which in my mind should be slightly firmer and come in a firm, round container, it is a really lovely lotion, and certainly on par with my 100% Pure body lotions, which are some of my favorites.

The Spray & Play by Big Sexy Hair is a really nice hairspray.  My hair care stash is shamefully small, and prior to this I didn’t even own a hairspray, so this was a welcome addition. The hold is both firm and flexible, as described. My hair was stiff after using, but nowhere near the helmet like hair I would end up with when using something like Rave. The hold lasted several hours, and could possibly have lasted longer had I not washed my hair.

Overall, I’m very pleased that Ipsy has done such and outstanding job with their bag. Their service is nearly perfect.  The only improvements I wish they would make are to offer a reward system for referrals and for product purchases.

  1. I got the Nailtini in Frappe. It’s okay, it’s a very pale pinkish peachish color. I thought Frappe would be a tannish color. Shows what I know, lol. I didn’t own hair spray before this either, haha. So that is new to me.
I liked the inside of the bag a lot, the stars are cute, but it was wrinkled for me too.
