L’eau de Missha – “So Into You” Perfume Review

My Missha fandom is no secret by now, nor is my love of perfume. But for some reason, in spite of these facts, I was hesitant to try any of the offerings from Missha’s fragrance line until very recently. I’ve eyed them over and over, reading over the notes and looking up the background of the perfumers behind each concoction, but I didn’t take the plunge. All that has changed now. Missha recently sent me a few perfumes from their L’au de Missha fragrance line-up to try, and I’m surprised and happy to say that they have become some of my most reached for fragrances. That’s no small feat, considering how righteously large my perfume collection is.

My Perfume Collection

These are my current spring/summer perfumes.

Today I’ll be talking about a relative newcomer to the L’eau de Missha family, “So Into You.” This little gem is described as a fruity chypre, which happens to be my favorite olfactory family. Other members of the fruity chypre club include Miss Dior, Coco Mademoiselle, and La Vie Est Belle. The packaging is beautiful and modern, with a pink mirrored front and a beautiful, sparkling pattern of circles visible from the back.

So Into You fits right in with its fellow fruity chypre club members with its bright, citrusy top notes of Mandarin and Bergamot, Mimose, Rose, and Jasmine heart, and basenotes including Patchouli, Vanilla, and Tonka Bean. It’s not as sweet as La Vie or Miss Dior. However, it’s very close to being Coco Mademoiselle’s smell twin! The smells are not identical, of course, but they are a close enough match that if someone wasn’t sure about shelling out the $64 for an ounce of Coco Mademoiselle, I’d feel really good about recommending “So Into You” ($40) as a less expensive alternative.

The top is bright and fruity without being too sweet. It quickly unfolds into a mostly floral heart that is slightly spicy, and dries down to a spicy, slightly sweet finish. It’s perfect for an evening out, particularly a date night, as the spiciness makes it slightly sensual.

The perfumer behind this fragrance is a woman named Daniela Andrier. She is responsible for creating nearly every Prada fragrance in existence, as well as a few Gucci fragrances, a La Perla, a Valentino, and an Yves Saint Laurent. Her talent for creating high-end fragrances is very evident in the Missha concoction, which does not smell at all cheap. Vanilla basenotes can often lend a low-brow, synthetic aspect that ruins an otherwise perfectly lovely fragrance, but that was not the case here.

My only complaint is that it doesn’t last very long, especially for a fruity chypre. I don’t mind reapplying it, but it does mean I’m using up the product a bit faster than I’d like. It’s still a fantastic fragrance though, and it’s likely I will purchase this again once my current bottle is gone.

L’eau d Missha “So Into You” is available on the Missha website for $40. However, Missha is having a big sale this week – 30% off of everything online, bring the price down to $28 for the next 4 days. It’s a great time to pick this up!
