Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum Review
Remember last Friday when I reviewed the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester 15 treatment, and went on and on and on about the skincare benefits of Vitamin C? Well, today I’m reviewing another Vitamin C product from Perricone, but it’s not going to be like last week’s novella. For one thing, I feel like I’ve said all I can about Vitamin C at this point. For another thing, this Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum from Perricone MD is just a’ight.
I never would have bought this product specifically, but I was very excited to receive it as part of a package deal the Perricone MD website is offering. When you purchase their Vitamin C Ester 15 and sign up for their replenishment service, you get 10% off the treatment and a free, full size Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum. The eye serum is $55 on its own, so it’s a pretty generous offer.
The thing is, having used this serum for a couple of months, I just don’t think it’s worth $55. It does brighten my eye area a little bit, but no more than any other Vitamin C eye serum I’ve tried. It claims to offer firming benefits, and to “encourage collagen production to boost elasticity.” Perhaps it’s doing something on a preventative level, but I personally haven’t seen any difference in firmness or in the appearance of the fine lines around my eyes. The product description instructs you to follow up with a second eye treatment after applying this serum, so I don’t think this was ever intended to be a standalone product.
The consistency is very thin, so it takes some speed and dexterity to actually get it onto my eye aera before it drips off my finger completely. However, once applied it does feel nice and in terms of brightening, it is visibly effective. But is it worth the high price tag? Not for me. I felt the results were comparable to the results I got from Avalon Organics Vitamin C Revitalizing Eye Cream, which, at $25, is less than half the price of the Perricone product.
I’ve tried no less than 40 different eye treatments in my lifetime, and I can confidently say that there have only been 3 treatments that have made any difference in the firmness around my eye area. Two of those treatments are Perricone products, but they aren’t this one.
All that said, as a freebie with my Vitamin C Ester 15 treatment, this serum is satisfactory. Also a great deal is the Eye Lift Synergy set which includes a full size bottle of Vitamin C Eye Serum and a full size bottle of High Potency Eye Lift treatment. The High Potency Eye Lift is one of the few eye treatments I’ve tried that actually works, and it retails for $98 on its own. The set is $98, which means you’re getting the Vitamin C serum for free.
If you just want to brighten your eye area and you were already planning on buying the High Potency Eye Lift or the C Ester 15 treatment, this serum is really nice to have. If you’re looking for something that’s going to do it all, this serum is not for you. If you just want to brighten your eye area and you don’t want to spend a ton of money, try Avalon Organics Vitamin C Revitalizing Eye Cream instead.
